The Salvation Army Announces New Leadership in Renton
Captains Adelma & Isaias Braga to lead social services, church, and more
(Renton, WA) – The Salvation Army Northwest Division announces the appointment of Captains Adelma and Isaias Braga to its location in Renton. They replace Majors Merry and Steve Svenson, who have retired.
For the past four years, Captains Braga have served at The Salvation Army in Fort Collins, CO. The Braga’s have a long career with The Salvation Army, starting with the establishment of the first Portuguese ministry in the United States in 1993, when they joined with a Brazilian congregation.
As Salvation Army officers, the Captains expect to be reassigned throughout their career. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The assignment in Renton is an acknowledgment of their ability to manage a large social services program and growing congregation.
Captains Braga began work in Renton on June 26. “We are very excited about the blessed opportunity to work alongside volunteers, staff, soldiers, Corps Advisory Board and friends of The Salvation Army in beautiful Renton, WA,” Captain Isaias Braga said.
Established in 1966, The Salvation Army in Renton provides social services to families in need. Among the programs offered are emergency utility assistance, eviction prevention, food and nutrition programs, veterans services, and emergency disaster services. Last year, The Salvation Army in Renton served more than 17,800 individuals in the community.
